Scarefest Scream Park Celebrates 20 Years of FearS

Metro Detroit’s Premier Halloween Festival Enters Landmark Season

Two Decades of Family-Owned Fall Fun & Fear Headline the 2026 Season in Lenox Township

Scarefest Scream Park, a cornerstone of Michigan’s autumn landscape, is proud to celebrate its 20th anniversary season. Since its founding in 2006 by John Marino, the park has evolved from a local vision into a 50-acre "Halloween Festival" that remains independently family owned and operated. Deeply embedded in the Macomb County community, Scarefest employs hundreds of local residents and continues its legacy of giving back through nightly parking donations to the New Haven Food Pantry.

This milestone season invites fans to experience the park’s signature blend of terror and festival atmosphere. Beyond the haunts, the park’s central Midway serves as the heartbeat of the evening, featuring nightly stage entertainment, a heated bar tent serving canned beer and cocktails, bonfires, and horror movie screenings. With ghouls roaming the grounds, photo ops, and live entertainment on site, the Metro Times has called the environment "elaborate, scary, and fun," succeeding in creating a thrilling, celebratory atmosphere for all personalities.

The Four Pillars of Fear Each attraction at Scarefest Scream Park is unique, offering scares that range from family-friendly fun to intense adult thrills:

  • Castle of the Dead: An 8,000-square-foot haunted house where guests must face the terrors that lie just beyond the fence.

  • Hayride of Doom: A family-friendly, spooky narrated trail featuring a researcher and his AI assistant navigating the aftermath of a zombie virus outbreak.

  • Forest of Darkness: A haunted forest walk running along the Salt River, where guests face the specters of death amidst the trees.

  • Terror Zone Maze: The thrilling darkness of twists and turns complete with strobe lights, laser & 3D effects, and terror lurking at every dead end.

Exclusive September Special Events Before the official October season, Scarefest is hosting two unique special event weekends catered toward adults 21+:

  • Ghouls Night Out | Sept. 18 & 19 (7 PM – 12 AM):

    • A unique twist on a fall-themed "girls night out" featuring an evening of spooky fun and creative activities. Highlights include a "Sip & Shop" local artisan vendor show with wine tastings, mixology demonstrations, "Take & Make" crafts, and high-energy Zumba sessions.

  • BBQ, Bourbon & Boos | Sept. 25 & 26 (7 PM – 12 AM):

    • An event where the crisp night air meets the warmth of aged oak and hickory smoke. This weekend features a live performance by the bluegrass-punk fusion band Black Jake & the Carnies, local bourbon and whiskey tastings, and amazing barbeque food selections. VIP ticket holders can enjoy an exclusive pig roast dinner.

“Reaching 20 years is a testament to the families who have made us part of their traditions,” said the Scarefest management team. “We are proud to remain a family-run business that creates a safe, thrilling environment for everyone in Metro Detroit.”
